Dearson Tools wasestablished over 40 years ago by brothers Aurthur and Roy Grimes. Over the years, they have built up a goodreputation based upon engineering skills perfected over decades of experience. Knowing how important it is to have the rightexperience and training, Dearson have always been strong supporters of apprenticeship
schemes and encouraging the next generation of engineering talent.

Apprentice Ryan Hassett is studying mechanical engineering
at EEF college in Tysley and comes to Dearson tools for one week every month to
gain practical experience as an apprentice.
Although Ryan only started at Dearson towards the end of September, he
has quickly established himself as part of the team, and says he has already
learnt a lot.

“ I have learnt from everyone here. Everyone has helped me
and taught me so much. Even just the experience of coming to work and being
here, I could never learn any of this at college.”

Dearson have a long history of apprenticeship involvement
and investment in skills. Managing director Richard Grimes feels that
apprentices are necessary for the progression of manufacturing companies and
the industry as a whole, as well as for individual students.

“Apprentices are an investment, and they are the future of
our industry. We have a massive wealth of skills and experienced staff here at
Dearson, and it is sharing that by training the next generation that will keep
us moving. “

With the rising costs involved in further education and the
current unemployment situation, it has never been more important to invest in
our future work force by taking on an apprentice. Dearson have made apprentices a part of their
company development and plan to take on many more as they grow.
